TDA 4: Dyslexia: From Child Find through the Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) Committee Process UPDATED (LA JOYA ISD ONLY)

At the conclusion of this session, participants will gain an understanding of the Child Find duty under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and its relationship to dyslexia. This duty will include evaluating all children suspected of having a disability and who need special education and related services. These obligations under federal and state laws and regulations include:
(1) the referral for an initial evaluation;
(2) notice of action;
(3) the full and individual evaluation (FIIE)
(4) the development of the individualized education program (IEP) and the critical components of instruction for students with dyslexia and;
(5) the reevaluation process.
This course is intended to provide basic information, assist providers of dyslexia instruction (PDIs) with background knowledge, introducE special education terminology, and explore resources for more in-depth learning.
