School Emergency Response Training: Fentanyl, LifeVac, and EpiPen

This in-person training equips school staff with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to emergency situations involving opioid overdose, choking, and severe allergic reactions.

Participants will receive practical training on:

Fentanyl and Opioid Overdose Response: Recognizing signs of opioid overdose, understanding concerns related to fentanyl, reviewing emergency preparedness procedures, and administering naloxone.

LifeVac Choking Rescue Device: Reviewing choking response procedures and learning how the LifeVac device may be used during a choking emergency, in accordance with district policy and manufacturer guidance.

Epinephrine Auto-Injector Use: Recognizing signs of anaphylaxis, reviewing emergency response steps, and practicing the use of an epinephrine auto-injector trainer.

This training supports school emergency preparedness and is intended for school nurses and designated school staff who may be called upon to respond during a medical emergency.
