The Balancing Act of Phonemic Awareness and Phonics

All students, including older students and those new to the English language, need well-developed phonics and phonemic awareness skills to become competent readers. This session will focus on the explicit teaching of phonics as a word recognition strategy so students will be able to "crack the code" in the world of reading. This will be a three hour virtual training with a completion of a short assignment to receive the 6 hrs credit.
