Historical reading research and its relevance to today’s practices for dyslexia and SLD will be discussed. A comprehensive model for dyslexia evaluation including screening, assessment, intervention, and monitoring will be reviewed along with examples of relevant tools. Models for SLD identification will be explored, relating each model with SLD in reading. Subtypes of reading disabilities will be identified with an emphasis on linking assessment with appropriate reading interventions.
