Zapata ISD ONLY - Effective Instruction for Elementary Struggling Readers

THIS SESSION IS ONLY FOR ZAPATA ISD. This session takes elements from the grade level reading academies offered a few years ago and incorporates methods that are specific to the struggling reader. The 3-Day academy features specific information, techniques and guidelines for each of the five components of reading. You will learn how to support a struggling reader without "watering down" the content so much that it is no longer aligned with the grade level standards. You will learn how to use differentiated instruction techniques. To register for this session you must attend all THREE days of training. This session is for general and special education elementary staff but most beneficial for elementary special education resource teachers. Each teacher receives a notebook full of resources. There are 4 hours of homework with this session, spread out into two days. Some in-class time will be allowed for homework completion. (3 training days at 6 hours each plus 4 hours of homework =22 CPE credits)
