“Early Recognition and Intervention in Child Maltreatment for School Personnel in the LRGV – Pediatrician-led Training and Resources”
“This three-hour interactive workshop on early recognition and intervention in child maltreatment will be led by a board-certified pediatrician with expertise in child abuse pediatrics. Lunch will be provided. Participants will receive a flash drive with teaching modules including lesson plans, PowerPoints, and resources that can be used to implement training for teachers and other school personnel within their respective school districts. Bring your challenging problems and questions to this training that will focus on recognition and intervention of all types of child maltreatment, as well as developmental capabilities, normal and concerning sexual behaviors in children, risk factors for maltreatment, and behavioral manifestations of child maltreatment. The training also covers child maltreatment prevalence in LRGV, legal obligations of reporting, and navigating the CPS process.
This session is for school counselors, nurses and administrators.
Workshop Fee will be charged to those who fail to show for a workshop.
