Counselors Secondary Training (Financing College)

The topic of this day is Financing College and is only a one day training. Register only if you will be attending this one session. You will not have access to attend the rest of the Academy. Getting into college is only the first step to a bigger process in the college admissions process. Another big task is filling out the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). After the student submits their application for financial aid, they will receive a financial aid award letter from the college(s) to which they applied. This letter spells out the details of their financial aid package. This session will assist counselors with helping students with the FAFSA process, reading the award letters, the various grants, loans, and scholarships as well as best practices shared. The topic of helping undocumented students will be covered. An emphasis on the Texas Model for Comprehensive School Counseling Programs will be addressed and applied.
