This book by L. Ferlazzo and K.H. Sypnieski (included in workshop fee, and will be delivered) contains 45 Sheltered Instruction strategies that are easy to implement to differentiate and facilitate second language acquisition. Through the book study sessions, participants will become acquainted with selected strategies. Participants will be required to join a total of four (4) 45 minute Zoom meetings held on January 13, 2020; January 27, 2020; February 11, 2020; February 24, 2020. In addition to the meetings, participants will be expected to (1) implement the strategies covered and complete a reflection exercise to collaborate in subsequent meetings, and (2) conduct some self-paced reading. Both additional requirements will be a total of 3 independent hours.
Platform: Zoom and Google Classroom (each day has five 55 minute slots to choose from for which teachers need to be present for at least 45 minutes)
