Developing Evaluation Recommendations for Students with Autism and/or ADHD - LAREDO AREA

The Texas Administrative Code (§89.1040 (c) (1) - Eligibility Criteria) requires that the assessment team's written report of evaluation must include specific recommendations for behavioral interventions and strategies for students with Autism. Many of the evidenced-based interventions and strategies that are effective with students with Autism also work well with students who have ADHD. It is suggested that there is a co-morbidity of ADHD in approximately 50% of students with Autism; therefore, it is important for evaluation personnel to make recommendations that will address the needs of students with Autism and/or ADHD that will allow them to be successful in school as well as other settings.
Participants will learn about specific recommendations for behavioral interventions and instructional strategies to consider when developing evaluation recommendations for a Full Individual Evaluation (FIE) for students with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and/or ADHD.
