Design to Learn -SESSION I Hometalk, First Things First, Communication Matrix

Design to Learn is an organiztion of reserachers and special education professionals, who work for the Oregon Institute on Disability and Development, a program of the Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU) in Portland, Oregon. They have developed a variety of assessment - instructional strategies tools for individuals that work with students with complex needs ( visual impairments, deaf blind, cognitive, autism, etc.). SESSION I will cover: Hometalk - An assessment tool for parents to guide them in providing evaluators and staff important informaton. First Things First - Manual provides instructional strategies to encourage early communication, Communication Matrix- an assessment instrument for individuals at the earliest stages of communication (pre-symbolic, augmentative or alternate forms.
