Creating an Effective PK Classroom Environment

The classroom environment is at the heart of all that occurs in the prekindergarten classroom. In this training, we will address how to create an optimal learning environment for prekindergarten children. We will focus on the presence of high-quality, meaningful literacy and print centers and materials as well as instructional planning tools. To assist with this goal, the CIRCLE Classroom Environment Checklist (CEC) will be utilized. Teachers will learn the components of the CEC and how to use this tool to improve the overall design and management of the classroom an individual centers. We will also consider how to troubleshoot concerns that arise over the course of the school year.
