Social Emotional Learning in the Reading Language Arts Classroom

Social Emotional Learning (SEL) can be a significant part of a student’s overall education. SEL skills like recognizing and managing emotions, being a good friend, controlling impulses, communicating effectively, and working with others are invaluable and can translate into higher academic achievement, among other gains. Participants will learn how to target the development of these skills through reading and writing. By reading and responding to different texts, participants will gain insight into how to incorporate these skills with their current TEKS.
