Documentation for SHARS Purposes **Presented by Angela Foote**

**Presented by Angela Foote, TEA SHARS Coordinator**
Local education agencies (LEAs) have the option to participate in the School Health and Related Services (SHARS) program which provides specific medical services to some students with disabilities. Implementation is occurring during a time of changing environments and evolving SHARS rules. As a state agency responsible for training and auditing SHARS, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) will present basic rules for compliance as well as share new guidance expected to begin October 2021. At the end of the presentation, you will be able to assess your procedures to ensure compliance and a successful government audit.
