A Step Toward Quality & Rigor--Development Guide to PLAAFPs, Goals & Objectives and Progress Monitoring for SWSCD

*Part of the 2022-23 STAAR Alternate 2 Initiative*
During this session, participants will go through the step-by-step process of creating high-quality IEPs for students with significant cognitive disabilities. IDEA 2004 requires that students receiving special education services have an individual education plan targeting their needs. When creating high-quality IEPs the ARD committee must review the student’s PLAAFP including the FIE and based on the student’s needs create goals and objectives that address the identified areas of need. This session includes a hands-on practice portion that requires PARTICIPANTS MUST HAVE READY ACCESS TO A STUDENT PROFILE.
Educators will:
-Understand critical components of the IEP including PLAAFP, Goals/Objectives and Progress Monitoring Methods.
-Apply the Quality & Rigor Rubric to the IEP’s PLAAFP, Goals/Objectives, and Progress Monitoring sections.
-Create PLAAFPs, Goals/Objectives, and Progress Monitoring Methods that are rigorous and of the highest quality.
