Delving Deeper into the Depth & Complexity Framework: The Content Imperatives

Are you familiar with the Depth & Complexity Prompts/Icons? Do you use them to challenge students at the highest levels? You may be surprised to learn there are several more components that comprise The Depth & Complexity Framework. At this workshop, participants will be introduced to the five Content Imperatives: Origin, Parallel, Contribution, Convergence and Paradox. Using the Depth & Complexity Prompts/Icons in combination and with the Content Imperatives produces deep, abstract thinking. Iconic Combinations and pathways provide valuable, varied learning perspectives that instantly increase rigor within a task. Practical content-specific examples will be shared and time will be allotted for participants to explore these limitless groupings in their own area of instruction. Create classroom-ready materials and formulate differentiated objectives that seamlessly tier instruction and elicit high-level thinking while exceeding demands of the TEKS. Integrating these elements provides organized structures for complex thought processes while empowering and inspiring students to become independent 21st Century Leaders.
