Book Buzz: Tips and Tricks for Librarian Booktalkers

(Region One Library Services & Instructional Resources/Virtual Library Cooperative Members Only)
Generally speaking, a booktalk is a short sales pitch to encourage someone to read a particular book. Librarians have been enjoying this job responsibility for ages, but we can all use new tips and tricks to pep up our talks. In this hands-on session, participants learn how to improve their booktalking skills by using new strategies and perfecting the basic booktalk form. They also learn how to use the strategies to promote literature, market their services, and use technology to create a book buzz in their libraries. Our guest speaker is Deborah Ford from Junior Library Guild. Our presenter, Deborah Ford from Junior Library Guild, has a fun day planned for us. She has requested that you bring a favorite book or two to use during the workshop.
