UTRGV TRC 17 - Eliciting GAPS through Formative Assessment (***ONLY for UTRGV TRC Members)

Participants will share how effective teaching practices have made an impact on student learning. Participants will be provided experiences in conducting a Formative Assessment Lesson and how to use student evidence to support instructional decision making. Participants will identify patterns in the way student’s think, evaluate student work on the basis of specific learning objectives, and identify what one particular task reveals about students’ understandings. The protocol used will be from WestEd, Making Sense of Student Work. The focus will be on mental models linked to geometric, algebraic, and proportional reasoning meanwhile targeting the 3-8 grade math TEKS.
