The following staff development series is being offered by the STEM Center of South Texas in partnership with the Region One Special Education Department and Region One educational partnering districts to serve the region-wide community of visually impaired populations. The "STEM Outreach for All Students" (SOS) seminar series is organized with a project based focus, inclusive of the necessary accommodations for the given audience. Each seminar will feature carefully planned, intensive, hands-on demonstrations and guided activities to immerse students in active design and problem solving using state-of-the-art robotics platforms. Content vocabulary will be reinforced in various formats to ensure English Language Learner supports for essential knowledge and skills aligned to content standards. District collaborative teams will be recruited that will consist of the following: 1 teacher for the visually impaired, 1-2 students, and 1 general education teacher. A maximum of 15 district teams will be accepted. Teams will receive 1 robotics kit, student supply kit, and session extras.
