Young Writers Workshop for Migrant Students

The Young Writers Workshop is designed to help high school migrant students strengthen their approach to writing. Writing plays a big part in college readiness and college success. As a result, the workshop will focus on finding voice in writing as it applies to the college going process and will provide students with a better understanding of writing strategies to improve writing skills. The workshop will feature Macarena Hernandez, Baylor University professor and journalist, who will share her experiences of growing up as a migrant student from the Rio Grande Valley and how finding her voice and sharing her story helped shape her collegiate and professional success.
