South Texas College has offered the Ascender program since 2012. This program is based on innovative and culturally relevant teaching methods that are meant to engage students, especially first generation students. Initially, students enrolled in cohorts in a developmental class and an English class, but now we offer classes in other academic disciplines such as Government and History. This session will provide an opportunity for any faculty who is interested in learning more about this program to become familiar with the major concepts that the program embraces.
