Tilting Assignments to Improve Student Success

As educators, we want to teach in ways that will promote our students’ persistence in college so that they can reach their educational and career goals. Using transparent assignments is one research-based strategy that has been shown to increase students’ academic confidence, sense of belonging and mastery of career skills. Join this session as we explore the components of a transparent assignment and the small changes faculty can make in their current assignments to support learning, especially for first-generation students.
