Academic Affairs Convocation- In Person

As a faculty member at South Texas College you are known for your dedication and commitment to student success. Our students achieve their goals because of your dedication to excellence in teaching and learning and your willingness to embrace innovation in the classroom. You have demonstrated excellence in teaching through your focus on creating a student-centered
environment by:

Functioning as an expert in your subject area, staying current in your
discipline, and pursuing intellectual development in your discipline and related fields;
Embracing innovative teaching strategies to enhance student learning;
Serving as excellent communicators to guide students to practice critical
thinking and problem solving, and to provide them with constructive and
objective feedback on their progress on a regular basis;
Using appropriate student learning outcome assessment to continuously
improve the student learning experience; and
Committing to student success as the highest priority that guides our day-to-day
activities.

This year, we will enroll over 34,000 students who will come to us with their hopes and dreams of changing their lives and the lives of their families. Nevertheless, transforming our students’ hopes and dreams into realities would not be possible without a strong foundation - the South Texas College faculty, who embody the College’s mission and values. Let us commit
ourselves to helping them reach their dreams.
