Guidelines for a Successful Advisory Committee Meeting

We are excited to offer the Guidelines for a Successful Advisory Committee Meeting workshop for Fall 2022. Last year, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board (THECB) scheduled a Perkins Basic Grant - Virtual Site Visit. During the visit, the Coordinating Board requested that we provide some of our Advisory Committee Meeting Minutes. The coordinating board reviewed the Minutes, and found them to be non-compliant.
As part of the Academic Affairs Division’s action plan in addressing this issue, a workshop and guidelines were developed. The workshop was offered for the first time in October 2021. Although we have seen positive improvements, we would like to continue this effort as we believe it will be helpful to Program Chairs, especially those who are new to the role. The workshop helps prepare Program Chairs as to the Advisory Committee Meeting process and expectations. The workshop incorporates THECB’s Guidelines for Instructional Programs in Workforce Education (GIPWE) recommendations to ensure consistency and compliance across all of the Academic Affairs Division’s CTE programs.

Deans, Department Chairs, Project Managers and faculty involved with workforce programs and specifically with the Carl Perkins Grant.
