Teaching Math in the ESL Classroom

Mathematics and numeracy are certainly part of an adult's family, work, and community life. Creating a personal budget, understanding a paycheck, and comparative shopping at the grocery store all involve skills with numbers. This session explores teaching strategies and activities that help ESL learners to increase mathematical and numeracy awareness and skills. The session incorporates hands-on learning and participants will leave with several lessons that can be used in the adult ESL classroom.
