CPI Certification Training

CPI’s Nonviolent Crisis Intervention® Training Program—proven effective since 1980—has been updated to further improve the training experience. They have simplified the language, with the latest research, they have introduced discussion of nonrestrictive (hands-off) interventions. They have eliminated the pre-test. They have woven concepts from the former 10 units into 8 modules. They have incorporated very useful knowledge checks for reflection and retention. They have redesigned their instructor materials to make it easier to teach and requires less participation time. We no longer have 2 day and a refresher courses. They only have a CPI certification course. We are evolving with CPI and will be making changes to the Summer CPI offerings. The trainings will be capped at 20 participants with 2 nationally certified trainers. The time required is 7 hours for a full certification. It will be from 8am to 4pm with an hour for lunch. Classified staff will only have to make up 1 hour for the week they are training instead of the former 2 hours.
