MATHEMATICS RBIS TRAINING

This session will cover an introduction to the Math Research Based Instructional Strategies (RBIS) and how they work collectively to build a solid foundation for mathematics instruction. This training begins the exploration of High-Quality Instructional Materials.

• RBIS 1: Balance Conceptual & Procedural
The pursuit of rigor by balancing conceptual understandings, procedural skills, and fluency development.
• RBIS 2: Depth of Key Concepts
Placing the focus on math content which aligns to the depth and rigor of the TEKS at each grade level.
• RBIS 3: Coherence of Key Concepts
The connection of concepts along with a strategic progression of learning to ensure new understandings are built.
• RBIS 4: Productive Struggle
Students engage in productive problem solving, engaging in multiple opportunities for practice, discussion, representations, and written responses.
• RBIS 5: Assessment Practices
Leverage HQIM assessments to drive instruction.
