Through the Lens of CTE: Effective Strategies for Disruptive Behaviors

Part of a four ZOOM series with Marie Riley. Classroom management remains the number one issue for ALL teachers, but it doesn’t have to be! Participants will learn 7 key behavioral principles and a range of research-based approaches for immediately defusing disruptive situations, avoiding escalation, and correcting behaviors. Strategies will target specific behaviors, including off-task behavior, rule violations, disrespect, agitation, noncompliance, and threats and intimidation. Learn the different types of behavior and how to have a positive and proactive approach that REALLY works for each of the different types of misbehaviors and where discipline does NOT have to be an issue. This session engaging and hands-on session will offer participants several strategies that will allow them to have classrooms that are orderly, respectful, fun, engaging and motivating! The scientific-based research used in this session is from Geoff Colvin, Kathleen McConnell, Gail Ryser, James Patton Randy Sprick, Harry Wong, Barbara Blackburn, Robert Marzano, Marcia Tate, and Willard Daggett who states students learn best when they are focused, engaged and can relate to learning through real-life application thus increasing motivation, academic success and deceasing difficult behaviors. Teacher Standards: 1A, 1D, 2A, 2C, 4A, 4B, 4C, 4D; Charlotte Danielson: Domains 1, 2, 3
