G/T NATURE AND NEEDS FOR COUNSELORS

This course is designed for New Counselors and is aligned to the Texas State Plan for the Education of the Gifted/Talented Students and meets Texas state requirements for the six-hour G/T counselor. Participants will examine identification and assessment, programing options available, and the social emotional development and needs of gifted students in a variety of populations. The Peterson Proactive Developmental Attention model for working with gifted students will be introduced and special considerations for gifted students from special populations will be explored. This workshop meets Texas state requirements for a 6-hour counselor training update.
