Teaching for Understanding of Multiplication Not Memorizing... The use of concrete materials, such as manipulatives, helps students visualize abstract concepts and builds understanding. Let's look at ways to overlap the concrete, representational, and abstract stages of learning to help students smoothly bridge the distance between concrete and abstract. In this Math Moments online course, participants will take a look at the foundations of multiplication and how to prepare students for skills that build on this foundation.
