Workshop Registration Details

These three days are designed to give High School ELAR teachers concrete strategies for preparing students for success on ST AAR EOC writing exams, including the revising and editing portion. Day one will cover expository writing, including criteria for a good thesis, teaching the craft of the thesis, text structure, organization in expository writing, mentor samples of expository writing, progression of ideas, and writing exposition in 26 lines. Day two will cover opinion/persuasion/argument, including the four influences, the four basics, the four guides, the four patterns, the thesis, hands-on application, and transitions/coherence. Day three will cover revising, editing and proofreading, including Dr. JAG's Four Progressions for Revising and Editing. Although all Abydos trainings are grounded in sound theory, these sessions will focus on practical, proven, hands-on strategies that teachers can implement with their students. There will be a minimum of telling and a maximum of showing and doing.
