2024 Dyslexia Handbook Updates

The State Board of Education (SBOE) revisions to the handbook were prompted by House Bill (HB) 3928, which made changes to law regarding dyslexia instruction and evaluation. The session will review the following:
Identification and Assessment: Updated guidelines for screening and diagnosing dyslexia in students.
Intervention Strategies: Evidence-based instructional practices and programs that are effective for students with dyslexia.
Accommodations and Modifications: Recommended supports in the classroom to help students succeed, including assistive technology.
Parent and Community Resources: Information on how parents can support their children and connect with local resources.
Legal Framework: Updates on the legal responsibilities of schools under federal and state law regarding students with dyslexia.
This session is designed for educators and parents.
