READY BODIES, LEARNING MINDS

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

Build independence and academic achievement, increase task performance and improve behavioral control in all students using Ready Bodies, Learning Minds© (RBLM), a two-day program training emphasizing the powerful and essential connection between motor and sensory development. Day 1: The RBLM program emphasizes the powerful and essential connection between motor and sensory development and the ability to perform the many tasks necessary for independence, behavioral control, and academic achievement. The results of an action study involving approximately 200 students and the Ready Bodies Motor Lab will also be discussed as well as classroom strategies. We recognize physical activity is important to learning, but why? And how do we address this in schools? RBLM explores our physiological systems within the context of the Dynamics Systems Theory of Development and our current culture of education. The book used in instruction, “Ready Bodies, Learning Minds: Cultivating the Complete Child” is included in registration. Day 2: The RBLM program includes further development of the theoretical framework along with multiple demonstrations of lab setup and activities. The Ready Bodies Motor Labs are designed to be implemented as an individual intervention to be used by a therapist, as a classroom center or activity, as an adaptive physical education, or as a campus-wide curriculum. The program is simple to administer, does not require specific referrals, and can be used for ALL students. Videos of motor lab examples and audience participation are included.
