3:10 PM - 4:05 PM
McHi - Room 108
Crafting effective prompts involves tailoring queries that provide clear instructions, context, and constraints to guide the AI's generation process. By mastering prompt engineering, users can steer AI systems towards producing more accurate and relevant tailored results. In this session, we delve into the work of Mollick and Mollick, Assigning AI: Seven Approaches for Students, with Prompts. Here, we take a deep dive into three of the seven approaches learners can create when utilizing AI in an educational setting: AI as tutor, AI as coach, AI as mentor, AI as teammate, AI as tool, AI as simulator, and AI as peer. In each approach, we focus on helping learners harness the upsides of interacting with AI while actively managing the downsides and risks. These approaches aim to prevent complacency regarding AI output, and instead encourage learners to maintain oversight, considering AI's potential errors and biases. Learners are urged to remain actively engaged in the process by critically assessing AI outputs and keeping "the human"at the center of the loop.
