Supporting Newcomer Students at School and Home

Do you have diverse students in your classroom? How do you meet the needs of this unique population? Where do you start? Come and learn additional tools and techniques to create inclusive classrooms that support all learners.

This session offers hands-on strategies and tools to support teachers and staff who work with immigrant and newcomer students. In addition to engaging activities that foster inclusion and language development, participants will explore the Teacher Created Materials Newcomer Backpacks, including visual aids and family-friendly resources.

Learn to integrate newcomer backpack materials to support vocabulary, communication, and home-school partnerships.
Explore culturally responsive strategies that promote student belonging and academic success.

Mandatory: ELDA-HS Teachers, ESL Ext-MS Teachers, EL Special Language Teachers Any other staff member serving newcomer students is welcome to attend
