Join us for our three day summer institute and earn up to 18 CPE hours! Over the course of three days, participants will attend professional development sessions with our Project L3 partners that have been tailored to meet the needs of our elementary and secondary teachers. Please note that if you are unable to attend all three days, you will still register for the entirety workshop in order to have access to all necessary information and resources for the summer institute.
Day 1 - Dr. Mendoza will provide instructional techniques and best practices of active learning tailored to the study of Reconstruction and the American West in Social Studies.
Day 2 - Region One ESC Social Studies will provide best instructional practices to engage student learning for American Imperialism, World War I, the emergence of social activism, as well as the impact of the New Deal.
Day 3 - UTRGV History faculty will discuss the global issues and ideological factors that shapes hostilities in World War II, trends and changes of the Atomic Age (1945-2008) including the foreign policies of various presidencies since WWII, and Supreme Court rulings and ideology across time with an in-depth look and mini-debates.
