Teaching WWII Through Sources: A TEKS-Aligned Routine for Historical Thinking and Analysis (Triumph Public High Schools Only)

The purpose is to equip U.S. History teachers with a clear, TEKS-aligned instructional routine for analyzing primary and secondary sources such as maps, political cartoons, speeches, artifacts that supports students in answering historical questions using evidence while strengthening reading comprehension, vocabulary, writing, and disciplinary thinking.

By the end of the training Triumph U.S. History Teachers will:

Understand §113.41(c)(28)(A) and how primary/secondary source analysis strengthens mastery of the TEKS.

Implement a unified district source-analysis routine

Model disciplinary reading using think-alouds aligned to historical thinking skills:

Narration (“What happened?”)

Interpretation (“What were they thinking?”)

Explanation (“Why then and there?”)

Judgment (“What do we think about that?”)

Design a source-based WWII engaging activity and design an aligned exit ticket.
