HB 3: Harmony in Mental Health

Complete Attendance not available before workshop starts.

This comprehensive 1/2- day training equips educators and school staff with essential knowledge and practical skills to support student mental health and well-being. Participants will explore the prevalence of mental health concerns among youth, including common risk and protective factors that influence student outcomes. The session provides an overview of developmental stages, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), trauma, and resilience to deepen understanding of how life experiences shape student behavior and emotional needs.
Through interactive activities and guided discussion, participants will build effective listening skills and learn strategies to prevent harm, foster connection, and promote safe and supportive school environments. The training also addresses how to recognize warning signs, respond to students in distress, and encourage healthy help-seeking behaviors. Participants will leave with practical tools, crisis response guidance, and access to relevant resources and referral pathways to support the ongoing wellness and safety of students, staff, and families.
School district employees who complete this training will fulfill the mental health training requirements mandated by House Bill 3 88 R (TEC § 22.904 (B)) and the subsequent commissioner's rule (19 TAC § 153.1015).
