We are providing our students who are visually impaired or blind an opportunity to learn about different sports and recreational activities (with adaptations) that they do not normally get to participate in due to their visual impairments. Some of these activities include goalball, blind soccer, beeper baseball, functional fitness, and learning how to run with a guide. This event is also a training opportunity for educators that work with students who are visually impaired. We are inviting students, parents, Teachers for students with Visual Impairments, Orientation & Mobility Specialists, Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Adaptive PE coaches, and General Education PE coaches to join us so that they too can learn more about these types of activities available for our students and how they can adapt them to meet their student's needs. Students with visual impairments are often left out during PE or other events because of their vision loss. Our goal is to increase inclusion and help parents and educators feel more comfortable with having students participate in physical activity and help our students with visual impairments enjoy the experience of sports and recreational activities. - This event will take place at Bobby Lackey Football Stadium (Weslaco ISD) and Weslaco HS Gymnasium.

Students who are Blind, Deafblind, or Visually Impaired - Kindergarten thru 12th grade plus TSVIs, O&M Specialists, Special Education Teachers and staff; Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Adaptive PE Coaches, General Education Coaches, Administrators, District Staff Members interested in learning more about Adaptive PE for students who are visually impaired
