Project- L3 Colloquia 1 (Year 2): Industrialization & Urbanization in America (Participating Districts ONLY)

Participant teachers will review secondary historical accounts and primary documents to examine some of the key historic, civics, and governmental issues in the development of modern America: industrialization and urbanization; U.S. emergence as a global power; and the changing structures of gender, class, and race. This subject also examines the multiple answers that Ameicans gave to the question of what it means to be an American in the modern age.
At this colloquium, the impact of industrialization and urbanization on economic and social life will be covered. As industrialization matured, more opportunities were created for work and investment, and that brought more people to cities as consumers and as workers. America’s urban and industrial growth changed the civic, economic, and government landscape in a manner that released America from dependence on European resources and manufactured goods. As cities grew larger, they began to subdivide into districts: working-class and ethnic neighborhoods, downtown, and a ring of suburbs.

K-12th Grade Project L3 Grant participating teachers. (Brooks County ISD, Jim Hogg ISD, La Villa ISD, Lasara ISD, Lyford CISD, Monte Alto ISD, Raymondville ISD, Rio Grande City Grulla ISD, Roma ISD, San Isidro ISD, San Perlita ISD, Santa Maria ISD, Webb CISD, Zapata County ISD)
