Join us for Project-L3 Themes 2 & 3: "Mexican-American War & United States Civil War." Participating teachers will examine the Mexican-American War in detail, the Mexican Cession and the acquisition of lands after the war, which had a large impact on the slavery issue already starting to tear the country apart. Participants will also examine the reasons for and the impact of the American Civil War. The themes of study will include the war, the Emancipation Proclamation, the impact of the Battles of Antietam and Gettysburg (and how they affected Lincoln and wartime policy), and the eventual reunification of the nation.
