Unlocking Learning Potential: Strategies for ALL Students in Social Studies

This pilot project is a systemic training program designed to help teachers establish a profound understanding of how a student’s disability impacts their educational performance, encompassing access, involvement, and progress in the general education curriculum, specifically 8th grade social studies. The focus is on effective Social Studies practices to support ALL students' academic success. In this three day academy, teachers will receive comprehensive training to better understand and address the needs of students with disabilities in an inclusive setting. Participants will engage in research based instructional strategies addressing critical social studies content and integrate technology to enhance the learning experience for students with disabilities. The program incorporates demonstrations to showcase effective teaching methods and improve the quality of instruction for students with disabilities in a social studies classroom.
