American Heart Association CPR BLS Certification Trainings will be held only in person. No NCPD's available. Participants must demonstrate skills and pass exam with a score of 84 in order to receive certification card. The Texas Education Code §33.086 states the following individuals must be certified in CPR and First Aid: A school district employee who serves as the head director of a school marching band or as the head coach or chief sponsor for an extracurricular athletic activity, including cheerleading, sponsored or sanctioned by a school district or the University Interscholastic League must maintain and submit to the district proof of current certification in first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation issued by the American Red Cross, the American Heart Association, or another organization that provides equivalent training and certification. Additional staff at the school district may be required to maintain certification in CPR and First Aid related to health care licenses/certifications (i.e. Registered Nurse, Athletic Trainer)

In a STOP THE BLEED® course, you’ll learn three quick techniques to help save a life before someone bleeds out: (1) How to use your hands to apply pressure to a wound; (2) How to pack a wound to control bleeding; (3) How to correctly apply a tourniquet. These three techniques will empower you to assist in an emergency and potentially save a life. this course will also prepare eligible participants to apply to become STOP THE BLEED Instructors.

This class will teach school personnel the basics to being considered an Unlicensed Diabetes Care Assistant (UDCA). House Bill 984 states that each campus with a diabetic student is required to provide at least one UDCA if a full-time registered nurse is working at the school, or three UDCAs if the school does not have a full-time registered nurse. Participants must be present for entirety of course. This course is directed for for unlicensed school personnel who will serve to support the public health workforce. School nurses welcome to attend. No Nursing CEUs available. ***Please note that session will have a partial skills check off.*** Skills Check off must be verified/completed by campus nurse Participants must score 78 on exam to pass. PO's must be on file in order to provide participants with Skills Check Off packet and Certification Letter

***Texas DSHS Hearing Screening Basic Certification is specifically for NEW or LAPSED certifications.*** Participants will be certified to conduct hearing screenings within the school district as required by the State of Texas DSHS. Participants will receive an overview of rules and forms pertaining to school vision screenings in Texas. Participants will also receive updated information on the diagnosis and treatment of hearing problems and abnormalities. Standards for screening tests and screener training courses are: individuals who have completed high school and who have successfully completed the department's vision or hearing screening course are eligible to be certified as screeners. This certification is active for five years, at which time a re-certification course must be taken (any time during that year) for the screener to perform screenings. Trainings will be held only in person. No CEUs available.
