The Texas Student Learning Objective (SLO) process is a student growth measure that empowers teachers to set clear learning goals based on students’ starting points, track progress over time, and adapt instruction to ensure academic success. Grounded in high-quality instructional practices, SLOs foster a continuous cycle of goal-setting, formative assessment, and responsive teaching. Through the SLO process, educators align curriculum, instruction, and assessment practices to support measurable student growth and strengthen teacher effectiveness.

This hands-on workshop supports educators in designing, collecting, and scoring student portfolios aligned to district goals and TEA’s Teacher Incentive Allotment (TIA). Participants will learn how to create clear, measurable rubrics, curate meaningful artifacts, and maintain scoring fidelity through calibration protocols. The session includes case studies, planning tools, and scoring simulations to deepen understanding of how portfolios demonstrate growth in content areas not measured by standardized tests, empowering teachers to elevate student voice and performance. Join us for a school nutrition product forum! This is a two (2) day event. Manufacturers and/or brokers will be presenting during each 20-minute time slot. Manufacturers will bring samples to share with the attendees. At the end of the event attendees can take products to sample and test at their convenience. You will also have an opportunity to network with other school districts’ staff, which may include superintendents, business managers, child nutrition directors, and key personnel. Things to keep in mind: No students will be in attendance during this event; Event will be hosted at the Region One Education Service Center. Event will be on Thursday and Friday.
