Speech Language Pathology Assessment, Ethics, and Related Issues (LAREDO AREA ONLY)

Presented by Lisa Rukovena, Region 13 - This session will identify the ASHA/TSHA Principles of Ethics and their implications for development of competencies and implementation of evidence-based practice. Participants will discuss the legal and ethical considerations regarding appropriate school-based identification of Speech Impairment and describe best practices related to TSHA Eligibility Guidelines. Federal IDEA requirements for Special Education Evaluation will be associated with best practice for identification of disability. Illustrate the implications of both over and under identification in terms of student outcomes and analyze considerations for eligibility and dismissal to ensure equitable services.
