Spring Extravaganza

DURING THE MORNING of this special collaborative event, award-winning authors, Adam Gidwitz and David Bowles, will cover just about everything, from their joint endeavor writing The Unicorn Rescue Society: The Chupacabras of the Río Grande, to their personal perspectives on storytelling in 2020. The co-authors will team up for a fun Unicorn Rescue Society membership exam before taking turns to lead the group in each of their own hands-on writing workshops. Then, drawing upon his experiences visiting different schools throughout the country, Adam will discuss the potential roles for white people in pursuing racial justice through kids’ books and beyond. And, in light of the critical backlash against American Dirt, David will lead a conversation on authenticity and accuracy: what’s the difference and why does it matter? Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions throughout the entire event.

IN THE AFTERNOON, participants will learn the basics about Blended Learning and how it combines traditional and online learning to provide a more individualized instruction. An overview, definition, introduction, and best practices of six different models of blended learning including Station Rotation, Flex Driver, Online Driver, and Flipped Classroom will be presented. Join us and learn which Blended Learning Model is best for you and your students.
