(Harlingen CISD Special Education Staff ONLY) Prevent-Teach-Reinforce (PTR) Model: A Comprehensive FBA/BIP Process"

This presentation will introduce the Prevent-Teach-Reinforce (PTR) Model of a standardized FBA/BIP process. PTR was evaluated by a randomized controlled trial and found to be more effective than typical behavior supports. Participants will be given an overview of the four-step model, adaptations to make it feasible in school settings, and a job-embedded professional development framework. Participants will be introduced to the Technical Adequacy Tool for Evaluation (TATE), a quantitative tool, to evaluate whether a completed Functional Behavior Assessment (FBA) and Behavior Intervention Plan (BIP) meets the essential components of an evidence-based FBA/BIP. Please bring a copy of a current FBA/BIPs and learn how to score the quality of its completion using the TATE.
