Teaching Twentieth-Century Texas History

This free workshop for teachers of Texas and U.S. history will cover central topics in the state's history in the twentieth century. Faculty lectures will address topics including Texas during the Progressive Era, LBJ's Texas, the civil rights movement, and the state's political history in the second half of the century. The workshop will emphasize close interaction with scholars, the examination of primary sources, and the development of effective pedagogical strategies and engaging assignments and activities. Teachers will receive books and other instructional materials and will be trained in the examination and interpretation of primary sources.
