Hybrid - Why Do They Do That? (Laredo Area)

Behaviors are not just a reflection of some emotional disturbance. It is the function of the interaction between a child and an environment. Therefore, the solutions are much more complex than rewards and consequences. This session examines why behaviors may not require a behavior plan that is designed to coerce children to conform and comply. Instead, it will explore what the durable solutions are to these challenges before us.
Objectives:
1. To identify the seven major influences on behavior and reflect on how
a specific environment can address each as the causes to behavior.

2. To develop an effective repertoire of strategies that move practices
beyond traditional behavior management to those that honor the
child.
