The CVI Den: Encouraging Use of Vision for Students in Early Phase I of the CVI Range

Come to this one-day Make 'N Take Workshop and learn about the most "promising" tools and materials to use with students with CVI, who function at the sensorimotor level of development (Phase I CVI). You will receive materials to make a black, CVI Den and the best light-up, single-color target you can use in the CVI Den; an Illumi-spring! In addition, you will learn how to fill out a CVI Strategies Flipbook. The Flipbook will give you a better understanding of the 10 characteristics of CVI and you will learn how to better communicate the "why" and the "how" of using strategies. Once complete, you will have your own "CVI Schedule" or "CVI Strategies List", and you'll be able to make copies to give to each of your student's Team Members. This will help to keep staff and families, "on the same page". You will also make a "CVI Den Observation Recording Notebook" so that staff can keep track of what your student is doing in the CVI Den! Finally, we will discuss and review a variety of Goals and Objectives that can be written using The CVI Den.

Participants will need to bring a charged laptop and be provided with materials to make/create; CVI Den, Illumi-spring, CVI Strategies Flip-book, Observations Recording Form, Sample Goals and Objectives.
