Interactive Biology for STAAR 2.0 Success: MOLECULAR, MEDELLIAN, NON-MENDELLIAN GENETICS

Participants will engage, practice, critique, and plan TEKS aligned accommodations for kinesthetic, interactive classroom models to represent the concepts of molecular genetics: structure and function of DNA, RNA in transcription/translation, protein synthesis and effects of molecular mutations. We will explore and critique strategies to make student thinking visible through the process of predicting genetic outcomes including chromosomal mutations. Teachers will be immersed a lesson development process that integrates academic language and investigative skills to enhance redesigned STAAR success.
